Welcome ED Fund!!!!!

16:04
@Ginale, I can't speak to this meeting in particular, but there is always the difficulty of scheduling meetings of hosing between dinner, bedtime, getting home from work. :{

16:51
(PSAC has been trying to navigate this for ages, and I don't think we have come up with an optimal time, yet)

17:05
@Ginale this was the time slot available for this particular format. But we are fortunate to have the recording.

18:18
as we have more of these we hope to tweak and mosify things like time slot and other issues brought up by parents

21:07
who pays for the live scan? they are very exoensive

22:17
@Ginale we will ask this outloud for the recording and direct answer from oak ed fund

22:22
Hi Ginale, yes, the live scan fee is one of the biggest barriers our families face in becoming volunteers. Some schools have started to set aside live scan vouchers.

22:47
@Ginale, some schools set aside money (through voting in the SSC) to use it for the fingerprinting.

22:52
the volunteer normally pays for the live scan, on this site you can find live scan locations in alameda county as low as $17 https://oag.ca.gov/fingerprints/locations?county=Alameda if a live scan is a financial burden for you email us letting us know and we may have scholarships available

23:16
^^ this

26:04
Not vaccinated, wish I could volunteer.

We a Team!

28:23
where can we find the recording/slides from this meeting after it ends?

28:25
TB Clarence is one of the biggest barriers for families coming from countries where TB is prevalent. It would be helpful if there was an option to waive this requirement. I understand this is a State requirement but it's a good opportunity to lead the way on addressing this requirement that disadvantages a particular group of families.

29:13
I am leaving but only because your presentation has already met my needs. Great website!

29:27
Once pass the application, is it one year valid for being volunteer at different schools at OUSD?

29:29
TY for coming!

29:51
@Molly, we will post the recording at familycentral.ousd.org

30:50
thank you!

31:19

32:55
oaklandedfund.org for slides and volunteer info

34:45
Appreciate Alicia mentioning that there are ways to volunteer that don't require finger printing

35:26
with new safety measures and safety concerns are there restrictions/rules to access our childrens sites?

36:21
This is for families and as per families' request :).

37:27
https://www.oaklandedfund.org/programs/volunteer/community-volunteers-2/

37:32
Training is no longer required for volunteers. General training is available via Oakland Ed Fund..

37:48
I am having problems with my microphone, but I have questions about security entering and being on campus. I have walked in late with my daughter and not had to show ID or an sign in, and was able to walk anywhere on campus. Can we require ID and maybe hold on to it while person is on campus?

37:48
(as per ed fund)

37:50
I think it is important to emphasize here and at each school site that families can still be volunteers, they just need to know the difference between supervised and unsupervised volunteering.

38:13
Yes, thank you Arcelia

39:40
Thank you Veronica for noting the TB barrier.

43:35
Thanks so much ladies. I’ll be sharing the websites that will house this recording with families as much as possible! This info has been highly needed.

44:30

50:52
Is there a particu;ar bucket stipends can pull from? Do Prinicpals have an option via Oakland ed fund?

51:10
or SSC/Title 1? etc

56:28
Hi, if a parent used to be a teacher in OUSD and has done a live scan in the past, do they need to do it again?

57:33
Great question Melissa, because we are a different organization from the district, they will need to do a live scan with Oakland ed fund to volunteer

57:53
Okay got it, thank you
