Early Learning Symposium, Navigating the New Now: Building a Community of Support.

Wednesday, November 17, 2020 | 6:00 - 7:30 PM

This is an online event intended for early childhood providers in the City of Oakland.

Returning to the classroom and child care has been challenging for children, families, and early learning professionals. At this workshop, Oakland early learning professionals will learn tips on how to use books to support the development of social-emotional skills. FREE sets of books will be available for pick up at Oakland locations for all registrants!

This first online workshop of the year will feature:

• Choosing appropriate books for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers that teach social-emotional skills.
• Incorporating the social-emotional skills promoted in children’s books into classroom management.
• Promoting reading comprehension and engagement during book read alouds.
• Time to learn and share with each other in small groups.

Free sets of books will be available for pick up at Oakland locations, more details to be shared with registrants soon.

Language interpretation is available as well as Professional Development credits.

This free event is sponsored by the Kenneth Rainin Foundation and the David Lucile Packard Foundation.
